CMS: Webflow holds far more content
A CMS collection is one type of content: posts, case studies, team members, job listings. Framer's Basic plan allows 2 and Pro allows 10, with 1,000 and 2,500 items. Webflow skips the CMS on Basic entirely, then gives Premium 40 collections and 20,000 items. For a few dozen posts, both are plenty. For a directory, a large blog or a product catalogue, Webflow's Premium does at $25 what Framer needs add-ons for. Every Framer cap is listed on our Framer limitations page.
Design: a canvas against the CSS box model
Framer starts from a freeform canvas. If you design in Figma, you'll be building pages in an afternoon, and scroll and hover effects are a few clicks. Webflow builds pages the way CSS does: classes, flexbox, grid and the box model. It takes longer to learn and gives a front-end developer exactly the control they expect, which is why agencies that hand sites to clients often prefer it. Owning the code
Both host your site on their own servers. The difference shows when you want to leave.
- Webflow exports a ZIP of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets, but only on a paid Workspace plan. Per Webflow's help centre, collection lists come out empty, and forms, site search, ecommerce and password protection stop working. FNJ's Webflow to HTML converter captures a published site the same way, as a starting point you then wire up yourself.
- Framer has no export at all. FNJ converts the published site into a Next.js project of named React components, or static HTML, that renders like the original and runs on your own Vercel or Cloudflare account. Framer's runtime and fonts still load from Framer, so keep the Framer project published.
Switching between them
There is no importer either way: moving from Framer to Webflow, or back, means rebuilding the design. Your text and images come across by copy and paste, and Webflow can import CMS items from a CSV file. Before you rebuild, check what you're actually leaving for. If the reason is Framer's hosting costs or caps rather than its editor, self-hosting the site you already have takes minutes, not weeks.

Is Framer better than Webflow?
For a design-led marketing site, portfolio or landing page that one person builds and edits, Framer is usually faster and slightly cheaper. For a content-heavy site, a store, or a team that wants class-based control and code export, Webflow is the stronger choice. Neither is better at everything.
Is Framer or Webflow cheaper?
On the cheapest custom-domain plans, Framer: $10 a month against $15, billed yearly. But Webflow's Basic has no CMS, and Framer's Basic allows only 2 CMS collections, so a blog with three content types costs $30 a month on Framer Pro and $25 on Webflow Premium. Each extra Framer editor is $20 a month.
Can you export code from Framer or Webflow?
Webflow exports HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets on paid Workspace plans, but CMS content, ecommerce, forms, site search and localized pages don't come with it. Framer has no built-in export. Which is easier to learn?
Framer, for most designers. Its canvas works like Figma. Webflow asks you to think in CSS classes, flexbox and the box model, which takes longer to learn and gives finer control once you do.
Can I move a site from Framer to Webflow?
Not by import: neither tool opens the other's projects. You rebuild the design in Webflow, and Webflow can import CMS items from a CSV file. If what you actually want is to leave Framer's hosting rather than to switch builders, converting the existing site to code is faster than a rebuild.
Which is better for an online store?
Webflow. It has ecommerce plans with a cart and checkout you can design. Framer has no built-in store, so you embed a third-party checkout.
Which is better for SEO?
Both give you titles, descriptions, Open Graph tags, sitemaps and fast hosting, so a site ranks on its content on either. Webflow's larger CMS suits sites that win traffic with many pages; Framer keeps redirects and staging on its Pro plan.
