Webflow, Duda, Carrd, Tilda, Dorik (static sites only) and Webstudio let you download your site as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and self-hosted WordPress is already yours because it runs on your own server. Wix, Squarespace, Framer, Strikingly, Gamma, Jimdo and Durable have no site export: at most you can take out content or store data in files such as CSV, XML or PDF, and Jimdo offers no self-serve backup at all. Most code exports need a paid plan (Webstudio includes export on its free plan), and the static ones leave dynamic features such as the CMS, forms, checkout and member logins behind.

Which builders export code: the 2026 table

Every row was checked on the vendor's own pages on November 7, 2026, and prices are as of November 2026.

"Export" means one of three things in that table: the site as code (a ZIP you can upload to another host), data only (content in a CSV, XML or PDF file, with the design left behind), or nothing (copy by hand or capture the pages).

Builders that export the site as code

Webflow

On any paid Workspace plan, Webflow's Code export (Main menu → Code export, or Shift + E) downloads your pages, CSS, JavaScript and images, which you can host "anywhere you like" with "no attribution required." Site plans don't include it, and the free Starter Workspace shows no code export on the pricing page. CMS, User Accounts, Ecommerce and localized content aren't included, Collection lists show their empty state, password-protected pages become public, and site search and forms stop working. Interactions, sliders and tabs rely on the exported JavaScript files, so keep that folder. The pricing FAQ adds: "If you export your code, it can't be reimported."

Duda

Duda's Site Export is "Available on Agency plan and higher," only account owners and staff can run it, and it "isn't available for Vibe projects" (Duda's AI builder). It downloads the published site, up to 1 GB, as HTML, JavaScript, CSS and media, with one HTML/CSS folder per device. The store, dynamic pages, the 404 page and membership data don't export, and blog posts come only as an RSS file. Duda says contact forms and personalization "will stop working." Its FAQ also says you are "not allowed to unminify the JS/CSS" and can't copy and sell its template designs.

Carrd

Carrd's site download "Requires Pro Plus or higher" ($49 a year) and gives you a ZIP of "unminified source code." Elements that need Carrd's platform, "most notably form elements," stay visible but don't work, and the download can't be uploaded back to Carrd.

Tilda

Tilda's Business plan adds "code export" (pricing): a static HTML version of the site with its images, CSS and JavaScript in a ZIP. The export stays tied to Tilda. According to Tilda's Code Export article, form submissions keep arriving only with an active paid subscription, the Product Catalog, Feeds, Tilda CRM and Members can't be exported, and password protection is turned off. Its rules for exported code are the strictest we found: "It is forbidden to change the code outside the Tilda platform," and you may deploy it only on the domain set in Site Settings.

Dorik

Dorik's Export Files option downloads a site as HTML, CSS and JS, but the help center says you can export only "if you are a Business or Agency Plan Subscriber" and only for static sites. That rules out Dorik's CMS sites, which Dorik calls "the latest and more powerful version of Dorik," with every static feature "except Export Site." Dorik's code export page adds that exported sites "contain front-end code only," so forms, analytics and integrations need setting up again on the new host.

Webstudio

Webstudio is the open-source option: its self-hosting docs say "both the Builder and the generated site are open-source," and the GitHub repository is AGPL-3.0 licensed. The free plan includes export (pricing), either as a static ZIP from the Download button or, through the Webstudio CLI, as a JavaScript app that keeps CMS integrations, forms, redirects and image optimization (it needs a host that runs server code). A static export doesn't support dynamic pages, redirects, form submission to Resource actions, image optimization, robots.txt or sitemap.xml.

Hostinger AI Builder

Hostinger merged its Website Builder (now "manual mode") and Horizons (now "agentic mode") into Hostinger AI Builder in August 2026. Agentic mode exports "a Node.js project built with React and Vite" as a ZIP. It covers frontend and logic files, not your integrated backend data, and you run npm run build to get static files an ordinary web host can serve. Manual mode only sends pages, text, images and files to a WordPress site: styles and layout, the store, forms, submissions and SEO settings don't transfer. Exporting needs an active Web, Cloud or Agency hosting plan.

GoDaddy: two builders, two answers

GoDaddy's Airo AI Builder, the product its Website Builder page now sells, saves your project as "a zip file that you can open to access your files and code" from Settings → Download Project (help article). The Website Builder page lists "Download your code anytime" among the features "Included in all paid plans." GoDaddy documents no site export for Websites + Marketing. Its backups are created and restored in the builder's Site History, store products export as CSV, and GoDaddy's Website Services Agreement says sites built with its Website Services "may not migrate or otherwise transfer" to another hosting provider. The agreement doesn't say how that clause applies to Airo AI Builder projects, so check before you plan a move.

WordPress

Self-hosted WordPress has nothing locked away: WordPress's own docs describe a site as core files, plugins, themes, images and code files plus a database, all on your server, and Tools → Export writes posts, pages, comments, menus and custom fields to a WXR file. WordPress.com's export file includes "links to your media files (not the actual files)" and no theme or plugins, though the media library can be downloaded separately. For the whole site, WordPress.com points you to the All-in-One WP Migration plugin, which needs a plugin-enabled plan (the pricing page lists plugins from the Personal plan up) and, for sites over 2 GB, the plugin's Unlimited extension. Business and Commerce sites can download a full backup.

Weebly and Square Online

Weebly's classic editor can email you a ZIP archive (Settings → General → Archive). Weebly says blog and store pages "aren't included in the export as they rely directly on our database," the Contact Form and Slideshow elements may not work outside the editor, and the archive can't be imported back. We found no site export in Square's help center for Square Online; its item library exports as CSV or Excel.

Builders that export your data, not your site

Wix and Wix Studio. Wix says a site "needs to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers," and a Wix team member confirmed on the Wix Studio forum (July 2024) that a Studio site can't be exported to HTML. CMS collections and store products export as CSV (products up to 5,000 rows per file).

Squarespace. The export is one XML file that "can only be in a WordPress format." It includes layout pages, one blog with its posts, and text and image blocks; style settings, custom CSS, store pages, audio and video blocks, and any extra blogs stay behind. Squarespace's reason: "Many features rely on our platform's JavaScript and CSS, so some content doesn't export." Products export separately as CSV, up to 10,000.

Framer. "Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting," says its help center, because published sites depend on its backend services. A separate data-portability article says "You can download these files at any time," but names no download feature, and the self-hosting article's FAQ answers "No" to downloading a site's HTML files. CMS content exports through plugins as CSV or JSON.

Shopify. Any theme downloads as a ZIP, emailed to you. That's Liquid template code that generates the pages of a Shopify store, and theme downloads "don't include your store's products, collections, menus, pages, blog posts, images, or other files." A theme bought from the Theme Store is "licensed only to the store that you originally bought it for." Products, customers and orders export as CSV, though product images aren't in the product CSV.

Gamma. Decks, docs and sites export to PDF, PNG and PowerPoint (Google Slides through the PPTX), with a "Made by Gamma" badge on PDF and PPTX files from Free workspaces. HTML isn't one of the formats; a feature request to export sites to HTML had 213 votes when we checked.

Strikingly, Durable and Jimdo. Strikingly says "we don't allow exporting of sites yet," though physical and service products and form responses export as CSV. Durable's own comparison table (July 2025) marks code export as not offered, and we found no site export in its help center; customer contacts export as CSV. Jimdo says "there is also no option for creating a backup of your website yourself" and suggests Windows users save each page with the FireShot or SingleFile browser extensions.

AI app builders that generate code

Lovable, Bolt and v0 write a code project from your prompts, so export is part of the product. Lovable's Git sync is "available on all plans," and its ZIP download "requires a paid plan." Bolt downloads a project as a ZIP on desktop and syncs to GitHub. v0 connects to GitHub, and its FAQ says "You can still export code and deploy elsewhere." Our comparison of AI website builders with code export covers their plans and hosting.

If your builder has no export

Three options are left:

  1. Rebuild. It's the only route to a working store, member area and forms on the other side, with your CSV and XML exports as the content source.
  2. Use an importer. Squarespace's XML file imports into WordPress, and Hostinger's manual mode sends content to WordPress directly. The design doesn't come along either way.
  3. Capture the published pages as static HTML. A capture saves what visitors see: pages, styles and images. FNJ's HTML converters do this for sites published on Webflow, Wix, Squarespace and other builders, and FNJ does the same for published Framer sites. A capture is a snapshot: forms, stores and logins need separate services, and in an FNJ Framer export, Framer's runtime script (which runs animations and interactions) and the fonts still load from Framer's CDN.

Before you copy anything, read the terms. Your content is generally yours (Wix says "the content you build on Wix belongs to you"), but the platform's code often isn't. GoDaddy's agreement bars moving Website Services sites to another host, Tilda forbids changing exported code outside Tilda, Duda forbids unminifying its exported JS and CSS, and Shopify licenses Theme Store themes to one store. Frequently asked questions

Which website builders let you export your code?

As of November 2026, Webflow, Duda, Carrd, Tilda, Dorik (static sites only) and Webstudio export the site as HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and Hostinger's and GoDaddy's AI builders export a code project. Weebly exports a partial archive. Wix, Squarespace, Framer, Strikingly, Gamma, Jimdo and Durable don't export the site.

Which website builder lets you export code for free?

Webstudio's free plan includes both static and dynamic export, though Webstudio's own hosting publishes free projects only to a wstd.io staging subdomain. WordPress is free software, though you pay for hosting. Among AI app builders, Lovable's Git sync is available on all plans, including Free. Webflow, Duda, Carrd, Tilda and Dorik all put export on a paid plan.

Does Webflow's code export include the CMS?

No. Webflow says CMS, User Accounts and Ecommerce content aren't included, Collection lists show their empty state, and Collection pages lose their bound content. Collections export separately as CSV, but the CMS itself has to be rebuilt somewhere else.

Can you export a Framer or Wix site to HTML?

Not from the builder. Framer says it "does not offer HTML export for self-hosting," and Wix says sites must run on its servers. The alternatives are rebuilding or capturing the published pages, which is what FNJ does for published Framer sites (as Next.js, HTML or Astro) and for other builders' published pages.

Is exporting my data the same as exporting my site?

No. A data export (CSV, XML or PDF) gives you the words, products and contacts but not the design, so you still need a new site. A code export gives you pages you can host, usually without the CMS, forms, checkout and logins.

Where FNJ fits

If you built on Framer, FNJ converts the published site from its public URL into a Next.js project, static HTML or an Astro project, removes the "Made in Framer" badge, and deploys to your own Vercel or Cloudflare account or gives you the files. Converting needs a paid plan (pricing), and the Framer export page explains what still loads from Framer.
